Following accounts given by the survivors, why was a rescue operation not immediately started by the Turkish Coast Guard after it first arrived on scene at the GPS location?
We ask for that in order to respect the dignity of the victims/survivors but also to maintain dignity ourselves, so that we can create a community and society in which the privacy and dignity of all people are valued and respected.

The group reports that they are in severe distress: the engine is not working anymore, they are adrift & water is coming into the boat! We informed the @HCoastGuard & urge them to react immediately!
We know of 4 boats with a total of ~187 people near #Crete & #Gavdos, #Greece. The groups, who fled #Libya, report serious distress and most of them have water coming into their boats. Authorities are informed: rescue before it's too late!
