Seguridad en el mar

This informations are for people who are considering to cross the Mediterranean Sea.

They aim neither at deterring people from, nor at encouraging people to attempt the crossing, but rather at providing objective informations and sharing experiences about risks, rights, and vital safety measures to take at sea.

regionen2

  • Western Mediterranean (Morocco – Spain)
  • Central Mediterranean (Libya, Tunisia – Italy, Malta)
  • Aegean Sea (Turkey – Greece)

For twenty years, the EU has been denying visas to most applicants. Many of them wish to emigrate anyway and attempt to cross the sea clandestinely. This crossing constitutes an offence, and is above all dangerous: during the last twenty years, more than 17,000 deaths have been recorded at the maritime borders of the European Union. This document aims neither at deterring people from nor encouraging them to attempt the crossing, but rather at providing objective information about risks, rights and vital safety measures to take at sea. Part of it can save your life but will not make the crossing any safer for all that.

You are welcome to spread these informations to people who might need them.

🆘 off #Tunisia! A relative informed us that 88 people are in distress between Tunisia and Malta. They have already lost one engine and their satellite phone. We cannot reach the boat and fear for their lives!

🆘 ~50 lives at risk in the Central Mediterranean!

They are still very close to #Zuwarah in #Libya and are in a desparate situation. Authorities were informed many hours ago but there is no rescue in sight. Do not let them drown!
