🆘 ~50 people in distress in the Central Mediterranean!
We are in contact with this boat trying to escape from #Libya. Authorities are informed and #Seabird has spotted them. Rescue is urgently needed!
Our Seabird aircrew just found a boat in distress that @alarm_phone reported. ≈50 people & 3 babies. Waves of up to 2m are about to hit. The boat could shipwreck at any moment. Merchant vessel ESTRELLA is close by & has to react, or the people will likely die.
We are super happy to know that the people we sighted from our aircraft, Seabird 3, were finally rescued by @emergency_ong yesterday. The people were at sea for 4 days without any rescue from authorities, what a disgrace.
